Additional Information: Fire Insurance


Village property owners should carry additional fire insurance on their property.


​ In the event of a fire response to your property, or a fire starting on your property, or a false alarm, any costs that may be incurred by the Fire Department for extinguishing a fire or providing fire services including costs of equipment and consumables may be charged to the person who caused the fire, the owner or occupier of the land on which the fire occurred or the owner of a vehicle in which a fire occurred.


Your Insurance company should be able to tell you what coverage may already have or what you need.

About Us

The Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay is located at the north west end of Vincent Lake, approximately 20 km north of St. Paul, Alberta.


It was incorporated as a Summer Village on January 1, 1985 and is governed by 3 elected individuals; a mayor, a deputy mayor and one councillor.


Municipal elections are held in July every four years. Day to day operations are handled by a Chief Administrative Officer.

There are 145 residential lots in the Village.




Open Fires & Brush Burning

Residents wishing to burn brush or have any type of open fire should be aware that the requirements for OPEN FIRES has changed and fire permits are now required.


If you want to burn brush or have an open fire, please contact the Village administration, Norman Briscoe, at (780)645-4677, to obtain a permit.


When registering your burns, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Name

  • Contact Phone Number

  • Expected completion date of burn

  • Summer Village address

  • Material being burnt


Some open burning may need to be inspected prior to lighting the fire.


Fire pits and BBQ's are not considered open fires and do not require a permit.
